Poulsbo

Historic Poulsbo - "Little Norway"

Poulsbo's proud Scandinavian heritage has contributed to the spirit and appeal of the community.  Dubbed "Little Norway," snow-peaked mountains and the fjord-like land reminded Norweginas of their native Norway.  Settled in the late 1800s, Liberty Bay played an integral part in logging and fishing.

Stroll Waterfront Park on scenic Liberty Bay.  A major attraction in the park is a 35-ton boulder from the ice age.  Walk on a 600-foot waterfront boardwalk, nestled under overhanging trees.  A short distance away, the Port of Poulsbo offers guest moorage, just steps from downtown.

Historic downtown storefronts are decorated with Norwegian folk art.  Enjoy old-time buildings which accomodate bookstores, antique and dress shops, restaurants, art galleries, bakeries and specialty shops - which partake in Scandinavian celebrations.  Celebrations include Viking Fest, Trawlerfest and Yule Fest.  Delight in the Scandinavian flavor of Little Norway, a small town that invites a simpler pace of life!
