Sweet Treats Made Right Here in Renton

Renton is also home to a wonderful variety of dessert makers who create sweet treats right here in the city. Annie of Trevani Truffles handcrafts her chocolates using high-quality ingredients, often sourced locally, and shares her creations at markets around the region. Downtown is home to two shops hand-making their desserts. Macadons bakes more than ten thousand colorful, inventive macarons each week. Common Ground Cupcake & Coffee offers playful cupcake flavors that rotate with the season- always frosting the cupcakes fresh to-order. Up in the Highlands, Cakes by Crème de la Crème is famous for their elegant specialty cakes celebrated for both design and taste. And an equally famous shop Chuck’s Donuts, is known for their real-maple-syrup maple bar— but honestly, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.

Even pets can join in the celebration of local flavor. All Paws Pet Bakery creates all‑natural, human‑grade treats designed to support canine health and happiness, available at markets and online. Junkyard Bones offers hand‑smoked, splinter‑free bones that have become a favorite among Renton’s four‑legged residents.

Sip Local: Renton’s Craft Beer Scene

Renton also boasts a thriving craft beer scene shaped by three unique breweries. Four Generals Brewing Company, founded in 2015, revived Renton’s brewing tradition with its German-style lagers and rotating IPAs, all served in a welcoming space. Bickerson’s Brewhouse, which began as a backyard hobby, has grown into a community‑focused taproom known for approachable beers with personality. Dubtown Brewing Company rounds out the trio with small‑batch beers crafted with creativity and care, served in a relaxed environment perfect for gathering with friends. Adding to the city’s creative food culture, Brewmasters Bakery blends baking and brewing by transforming spent grain from local beer into tasty baked goods and mixes that can even be shipped to your door.

Local Food System

Local farmers and producers play a huge role in Renton’s food system as well. Pearson’s Bees and Berries offers summer U‑pick blueberries and fresh honey—a seasonal favorite worth planning for next year. Boon Boona Coffee roasts beans locally, sourced directly from African farmers, bringing global flavors to Renton with a strong focus on equitable partnerships.

Renton’s food community is also strengthened by organizations dedicated to sustainability and education. Sustainable Renton inspires residents to grow and cook local food through its community garden and helpful blog. At  City Soil Farm, visitors can explore a King County demonstration site for urban agriculture, featuring composting, regenerative growing techniques, sustainable irrigation practices, and hands-on learning opportunities designed to show what the future of farming can look like in urban spaces.
