What's Next for Renton as World Soccer Comes to an End

Friday nights in August bring an entirely different kind of magic to Legacy Square with the square transforming into an outdoor movie theater. Arrive early for concessions and live pre‑show entertainment before enjoying your favorite films on the big screen. It’s the perfect way to end the week—laid‑back, lively, and completely family‑friendly.

Sip, stroll, and explore local creativity at this late‑summer Wine & Art Block Party featuring art experiences, wine tastings, and fun for adults looking for an evening out. As summer winds down, celebrate the season with fall‑themed activities, treats, and community traditions at Legacy Square’s first Harvest Festival.

The warm, sunny days of summer are perfect for spending your day on the water. Renton is nestled among the shores of Lake Washington, and has the beautiful Cedar River running through it.  Renton Rowing Center offers casual recreation on Lake Washington through kayak and paddle board rentals. Rent single and double kayaks, as well as stand up paddle boards from Thursdays through Mondays. For more of a workout (or to try something brand new) check out their rowing camps, offered for both youth and adults. The Dragon Boat Club is also great fun for beginners, with chances to fully dive into the world of rowing. The market at Hyatt Regency Lake Washington also rents paddleboards and kayaks for easy fun. If you want more fast-paced fun, this marina has it all with Ohana Kai Watersports offering jet ski, and new this year, boat rentals!

For a full day experience, dine at one of Renton's many waterfront restaurants to enjoy fresh flavors with sparkling Lake Washington views. Come back to the boardwalk to return your paddleboard or kayak and enjoy Dock and Drink, a seasonal popup restaurant with refreshing drinks, delicious food and live music. Anchovies and Salt  has the same amazing views of the Lake but with different flavors to try. The largest Vietnamese Restaurant outside of Vietnam, enjoy fine dining with a twist as you dine at their patio. If you're taking a stroll by the lake, you'll find Ivar's and Kidd Valley along your walk, both great for a casual stop, whether it's ice cream and a burger or a cup of clam chowder. 

The Cedar River is another great spot in Renton for water fun. Follow the river along the Cedar River Trail. Stretching for miles, it's perfect for long runs, walks or bike rides. The river is great for swimming, just find a spot to hangout and jump in! In the fall, this river becomes a passage for Salmon so return to see a few make their journey.  

The Henry Moses Aquatic Center offers another community location for family fun. It's basically a mini waterpark with slides, a wave pool, and even a lazy river. Sessions fill up fast in the summer so be sure to book ahead!

Downtown becomes more active during the summer. It’s a perfect stop to walk and shop. Plus the Downtown Renton Art Walk adds even more activity and helps create a lively neighborhood atmosphere during warmer months.  Everyone is welcome at the Renton Farmers Market, where local farmers, artisans, and food makers come together to celebrate community and fresh, seasonal products. From Washington-grown produce and handcrafted goods to culinary creations, the market is a hub for discovering the best that Renton has to offer.  Stroll through rows of colorful stalls, sample delicious treats, and connect with the people behind your favorite local foods.
