The restaurant's story traces back to 1947 in Punjab, India, where the original Pabla establishment began serving traditional vegetarian dishes that would inspire generations of chefs. Owner Harnek Singh Pabla immigrated to the United States in 1990, building his culinary expertise in Barkley, Sacramento, Roseville, and Modesto, California. In 1995, he and his brother opened their first Indian restaurant in downtown Seattle. Three years later, Mr. Pabla brought his vision to Renton—opening a pure vegetarian restaurant, bakery, and grocery that remains a beloved community staple today.
Anchoring Sunset Boulevard, La Fuente is a quintessential family enterprise. Opened in 1987 by brothers Francisco and Salvador Sahagun, this Renton location was their very first restaurant—created with the vision of offering fresh, authentic Mexican food in a casual, comfortable atmosphere. What began as a single family venture in Renton has since grown to include two additional locations, allowing even more guests to enjoy their warm hospitality and flavorful, traditional dishes.
Serving the Renton Highlands since 1998, Plum Delicious Family Restaurant has been a welcoming part of the Renton Highlands dining scene for decades. The restaurant first opened in 1978 as Steak & Stack, later operating as The Colliery through the 1990s—serving locals hearty meals and offering a familiar gathering place during Renton's period of steady growth. In June 1998, owner Gary Johnson purchased the restaurant and rebranded it as Plum Delicious, transforming the spot into the beloved comfort‑food staple it remains today.
Tommy's Café has deep roots in Renton's dining history dating back to 1991. Before becoming the beloved family‑owned diner locals know today, the building spent 24 years as the Maverick Steakhouse—a popular, working‑class hub that served Renton residents and employees from nearby industrial plants. Tommy's carries forward that tradition of hearty meals, friendly service, and true neighborhood comfort. Over the decades, it has become a staple for regulars seeking classic diner fare and a welcoming, familiar atmosphere.
Opened in 1975 in the Renton Highlands, Chuck's Donuts has spent more than 50 years brightening mornings with one of the largest assortments of fresh donuts in the region. Loved for its consistency, friendliness, and classic recipes, Chuck's is regularly voted one of the Best Bakeries in Renton. Their most iconic treat is the famous maple bar—huge, pillowy, and topped with a distinct whipped maple frosting that locals swear by. Each morning, the shop continues its tradition of hand‑crafted donuts made fresh daily, offering the same quality and charm that have made it a community staple for generations.
